Scale up for the technology is being undertaken in collaboration with the Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre at the University of Manchester. The programme of work has focused on various aspects including high-throughput production of the 2D materials requiste materials, deposition onto various porous ceramic and polymer materials (including commercial membrane materials) and key functionalisation steps.

Molymem is working with industrial partners to optimise the deposition of MoS2 functional layers onto the surface of existing membranes for different market segments. This allows our partners to tune the rejection properties of high performance membranes and at the same time give the membranes a higher level of protection against highly acidic and alkaline feeds.

Partnering with the GEIC has allowed Molymem to progress rapidly. The GEIC has invested in pilot line equipment for membrane deposition. The collaboration is continuing with exploration into deposition on new membrane geometries.
